The Sarasota Young Professionals Group, a program of the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce, is proud to announce Murray Devine as the Young Professional of the Year announced at the YPG Summit: Thrive hosted at USF Sarasota-Manatee on July 21.

This award, which in years’ past has been announced at The Chamber’s Annual Small Business Awards, recognizes a young professional in the Sarasota region that has demonstrated outstanding leadership personally, professionally, and in our community.

About Murray Devine:

Murray Devine is the Manager of Communications and Marketing at the Community Foundation of Sarasota County, overseeing the Foundation’s communications, media relations, social media, and marketing efforts for the last three years. He also directs the branding, strategic communications, and promotional efforts for the Giving Challenge, which benefits more than 600 local non-profit organizations, as well as Season of Sharing, which provides a safety-net for families living under the threat of homelessness. Originally born and raised in South Africa, Murray has been proud to be able to call Sarasota his home for the last 14 years. Murray believes in the power of results-based, strategic communications and storytelling to build movements and drive positive social change in communities. Through his work, Murray most enjoys telling the various stories of good things happening in our region and being able to give back to the community.

On Friday, June 2, The Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce will honor six businesses at the 2017 Frank G. Berlin, Sr. Small Business Awards at the Hyatt Regency Sarasota from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m and one as Top Honor Small Business of the Year.

In its 27th year, The Frank G. Berlin, Sr. Small Business Awards recognizes member businesses and individuals with locally owned and operated business in six categories. Named in honor of the late Frank G. Berlin, Sr., whose legacy in the community and untiring support of The Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce epitomized the hopes and dreams of contemporary business entrepreneurs. 2016 Small Business Nominations Open

Do you know of an outstanding locally owned or operated small business or young professional in our area? Nominations are now open for the 2016 Frank G. Berlin, Sr. Small Business Awards on June 3, 2016, presented by the Herald-Tribune Media Group.  All nominees must be a member of The Chamber in good standing, have no more than 75 employees, and have been in business in Sarasota for a minimum of 3 years. The categories are:

Small Business of the Year Award – sponsored by Herald Tribune Media Group – must be a for-profit business.

Young Professional of the Year Award – sponsored by Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP – must be employed by a member of The Chamber in good standing, work in a professional capacity in Sarasota for at least 30 hours a week, and be between the ages of 21 and 40.

Cultural Organization of the Year Award – sponsored by Hyatt Regency Sarasota – applicants must have an active, operating arts or cultural business/organization with examples of contributions to, and/or programs available for, the local community.

Retail Business of the Year – applicants must be a locally-owned and operated “bricks and mortar” retail business.

Health Care/Wellness Organization of the Year Award – must be an active and operating organization in the field of health and wellness.

International Organization of the Year Award – sponsored by Sarasota Bradenton International Airport – applicants must offer a core product or service that engages the international arena.

Non-Profit Organization of the Year Award – sponsored by Kerkering Barberio & Co. – must be a local 501(C)3 or 501(C)6 not-for-profit organization registered in the State of Florida.

Please note: Nominees MUST fill out an application to be eligible for an award. We will inform your nominee of their nomination, and send them the application, but it is their choice whether or not to apply.
