To help recruit, train and retain talent for employers on the Suncoast

How long have you been in business in the Greater Sarasota Community?

There have been workforce programs in the community dating all the way back to the enactment of the Wagner-Peyser Act in 1933, which is still in existence. Prior to becoming the Suncoast Workforce Board, the Manasota Industry Council ran workforce programs in Sarasota starting in 1983.

We provide services to meet their employment needs. For employers, that can range from hiring events and job postings to training grants and labor market data. For job seekers, we have 3 offices across the two counties to assist with job applications, unemployment filings, a networking group and a series of workshops to write better resumes and to perform better in interviews.

What makes your business/organization unique?

Anyone can be our customer. Job seekers, businesses, schools, we work collaboratively with all of them to connect employers and job seekers in our community.

Meet Our Members: Danee Barnett Image Recovery Center

DaneeBarnettImageRecoveryGive us a brief history of your business/organization.

Danee Barnett Image Recovery Center is the brainchild of Dr. Danee Barnett, a licensed Doctor of Oriental Medicine and homeopathic practitioner. She is also 15-year cancer survivor and trained integrative oncology acupuncturist. Barnett developed a program which helps her patients lose weight while dramatically improving over-all health.

The protocol employs homeopathy to safely ‘rev’ up the body’s metabolism, electro-acupuncture treatments (no needles) proven to conquer food addictions and emotional eating and a custom amino acid compound to help change the body’s composition to burn fat while building and maintaining muscle.

Dr. Barnett’s patients typically lose about 10% of their body weight in a little over 30 days. Since launching the weight program in 2009, she has helped more then 3,000 patients, including MDs, nurses and pharmacists lose over 56,000 pounds. Men typically lose, on average 25-35 pounds, women 15-25 pounds. Metabolic testing and Lipotopic injections insure lasting weight loss, without the common yo-yo effect.

In addition, cholesterol, blood pressure, triglycerides, and blood sugar levels dramatically improve. In many cases, type 2 diabetes can actually be reversed and statin drugs are no longer necessary.

What are your business/organization’s core values, goals, and overall mission?

Our overall mission is to improve each patient’s physical and emotional well-being.

How long have you been in business in the Greater Sarasota Community?

The Danee Barnett Image Recovery Center opened 1998. Originally, most patients were seen to assist in the recovery of pain issues or integrative cancer care. The weight program evolved in 2009, after Dr. Barnett, testing her system, lost 16 pounds in one month while improving blood pressure, cholesterol, triglycerides. Her fat content dropped while lean body mass remained intact. She felt stronger and had more energy than she’d had in years. Her patients saw this dramatic, positive transformation and began to ask for help to do the same.

In a nutshell, what does your business/organization provide its customers/clients?

We provide our patients with personal, loving care and attention. Whether their goal is to lose weight and get off of prescription medications, or to learn a proper diet to help overcome cancer, each individual receives one-on-one, skillful and professional treatment and guidance. All office visits are with a physician, never a technician

Complete this sentence: “When a customer/client walks into my business/office, they can expect…”

…to feel that they are finally home.

What makes your business/organization unique?

There is no other weight loss program like this. Using food as medicine, Dr. Barnett has developed a system that is easy to follow and most find very affordable. With a success rate of over 90% each success story leads for two or three more! in addition to being a finalist in the Sarasota Chamber Small Business Awards, Danee Barnett Image Recovery Center has been voted Best Local Weight Loss Program for five years in a row by the Sarasota Herald Tribune Reader’s Choice Awards.

The atmosphere is our office is fun and uplifting with most patients looking forward to every office visit.

What benefit(s) attracted you to the The Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce?

I am excited to be a new member of the Chamber and look forward to helping other members get their mojo back! I am also looking forward to meeting and taking advantage of the services of other business owners in the community. I have already found a new credit card processing company through The Chamber.

Is your company/organization involved in any community/civic activities?

We currently donate 25 cents per pound lost on our weight loss program to The All Faiths Food Bank Sprout Truck, which is their fresh produce program. I know it doesn’t sound like a lot, but with over 56,000 pounds lost in the last 6 years, it will certainly add up! We also provide financial support both by attending fund-raising functions and donating goods and services to silent auctions of charitable organizations including the Sarasota County YMCA, Planned Parenthood and SPARCC.

Where do you see your organization in five years?

In 5 years, I would like to see my weight loss system used in clinics across the country. Obesity is the #1 health problem in America. It leads to diabetes, heart disease and even cancer. We are already beginning to receive calls from outside the state and even from other countries as a result of word-of-mouth.

If your business/organization were a book, song or famous artwork, what would it be and why?

The song that best represents my business is “I Feel Good!” by James Brown. Our patients feel younger than they have in years after completing our program and our maintenance programs keep that vitality going strong!

Meet Our Members – POP Yachts

POPYachts

Give us a brief history of your business/organization.

POP Yachts was started in 2009 in an effort to provide traditional local brokerage services while also taking advantage of internet marketing, using proprietary software to give itself an advantage of traditional brokers. POP Yachts became the largest boat and yacht broker in America in 2013 and now brokers more than 1,500 boats/year.

What are your business/organization’s core values, goals, and overall mission?

Our primary goal is to build a software system and set of processes that provide sellers with the absolute best marketing program available and buyers and sellers with the simplest and safest transaction possible.

How long have you been in business in the Greater Sarasota Community?

POP was started in 2009 in Sarasota and has been here for 7 years.

In a nutshell, what does your business/organization provide its customers/clients?

As a broker, we provide marketing and sales services for our sellers. Much like a real estate broker, our job is to marry up buyers with sellers and to ensure a safe, fast and satisfactory transaction.

Complete this sentence: “When a customer/client walks into my business/office, they can expect…”

Fast, reliable, tech-savvy communication.

What makes your business/organization unique?

Although we provide all the traditional services of a local brokerage, POP permits our sellers to also sell their boat on their own without paying us a commission. Instead of choosing FSBO or Broker, our sellers get both.

What benefit(s) attracted you to the The Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce?

Our founder, Scott McNally, is a Sarasota local.

Is your company/organization involved in any community/civic activities?

One of our owners, Nick Owens, is very active in the community, participating on various boards and volunteer efforts.

Where do you see your organization in five years?

Over the next 5 years, we are concentrating on our new sister company, POP RVs. That company is now six months old and really starting to get its legs. Five years from now, we expect to be one of the top 10 largest sellers of RVs in America.

What does your business/organization do to keep office culture fun and exciting?

Each week (on Tuesday), one of the owners holds a 90-minute webinar for all employees. New business development is discussed, software changes, new marketing, positions available. For enjoyment and to encourage participation, employee-provided photos are displayed in the presentation. There is almost a real-time survey conducted where for example the employees will choose the color and style of a new shirt and there is always trivia of some kind with points in the company store awarded for correct answers.

For more information about POP Yachts, visit their website, like them on Facebook and follow them on Twitter.

Congratulations to Kobernick Anchin Benderson – January Insignia Award Winner

The Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce presented Kobernick Anchin Benderson with the Insignia Award for the month of January 2016. This award recognizes the achievement of quality customer service and commitment to the community.

Kobernick-Anchin-Benderson is Sarasota’s only rental senior community offering all levels of living including independent living, assisted living, secure memory care, skilled nursing and rehabilitation care.

IMG_01291

Kobernick-Anchin-Benderson is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization offering a full continuum of care and is one of Sarasota’s most desirable senior communities. It was established in 1993 by the Sarasota Manatee Jewish Housing Council, Inc and has over 20 years adapting to the growing needs of the senior lifestyle community here in Sarasota. The goal of the founders was to establish a full service senior community where all faiths could be secure and safe while they enjoy comforting amenities, family and friends, enriching activities, on-site healthcare services and more without the expensive buy-in.

Aside from the many amenities such as a swimming pool, a fully-equipped fitness center and social activities at Kobernick-Anchin-Benderson, the residents and staff feel as if they are all part of one caring family. The community offers 3 levels of living: Kobernick Independent Living, Anchin Pavilion Assisted Living, and Benderson Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation.

We congratulate Michelle Williams, DJ Lambert and the entire team at Kobernick-Anchin-Benderson as our January Insignia Award Winner for their exemplary customer service and commitment to the Sarasota community.

The Insignia Award is sponsored by Insignia Bank which holds the distinction of being the highest initially capitalized bank in the history of the Sarasota/Bradenton market and is a locally owned community bank.  It remains one of the higher ranked banks by Bauer rating services with a three star rating and continues to retain its capital levels well over the highest capital status by regulatory measures as “Well Capitalized.” The bank continues to lend as evidenced with over 20% loan growth last year alone and plans on doing so again this year and is one of the faster growing banks from a deposit perspective in the market. Insignia Bank takes its role as a Community Bank very seriously, and as a result, it is proud to be the sponsor of the Insignia Award.

The Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce presents the Insignia Award to a company or organization each month in recognition of its quality service and commitment to the community under The Chamber’s Code of Ethics.
