A big thank you to all that attended our 96th Annual Kick Off Breakfast last Friday, February 19th. The Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce welcomed nearly 400 business and community leaders to The Polo Grill in Lakewood Ranch.
The event featured keynote speaker Tony Carvajal, Executive Vice President of the Florida Chamber Foundation. Carvajal focused on the Florida Chamber Foundation’s upcoming 2030 project, which will stimulate strategic thinking about Florida’s future and engage business and community leaders in identifying key trends and factors that drive the state and local economy.
Carvajal stated, “by 2030, six million more residents will call Florida home. To prepare for this continued growth and ensure Florida remains successful, we need a plan for Florida’s future economy that ensures high-wage jobs, global competitiveness and vibrant communities.”
His presentation also discussed the Florida Chamber Foundation’s Six Pillars framework and how much progress Sarasota has made by implementing these strategies. Through collaboration and focus on regionalism, Sarasota can attract and retain businesses and improve the quality of life for residents.
Other highlights of the event included Chamber Chair Lisa Krouse, FCCI Insurance Group, announcing goals of collaboration, engagement, growth and targeted strategies for The Chamber in 2016. The Chamber recognized Member Volunteer Troy Peterman from PayServ Systems with The Chamber 2015 Ambassador of the Year Award.
