Give us a brief history of your business/organization.

The Sarasota Film Festival is a 501(c)3 non-profit art organization and is the largest festival in the Southeastern United States, featuring over 220 films. Our festival is one of the largest in North America and is recognized in the top ten for attendance, drawing over 50,000 ticket holders annually. The festival also draws national film industry attendees and regional press including The New York Film Critics’ Circle, Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, The New York Times, New York Magazine, Entertainment Weekly, indieWIRE, USA Today, GQ, Vanity Fair, The Huffington Post, Paste Magazine, and many more.

What are your business/organization’s core values, goals, and overall mission?
The Sarasota Film Festival is a 501(c)3  institution whose mission is to celebrate the art of filmmaking and the contribution of filmmakers by hosting an international film festival and developing year-long programs for the economic, educational and cultural benefit of our community.

How long have you been in business in the Greater Sarasota Community?

This is our eighteenth annual festival.

In a nutshell, what does your business/organization provide its customers/clients?

We provide entertaining and meaningful experiences in and around the world of independent film.

Complete attention and care. Our audiences are the reason we are here in the first place!

What makes your business/organization unique?

We are the largest regional film festival in the country, and in the top ten of all film festivals nationally. Yet we retain our Sarasota roots as well. The Sarasota Film Festival is well known within the film world for the strength of its programming, the tight-knit nature of its filmmaking community, and its great parties!

What benefit(s) attracted you to The Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce?

Any serious organization should be a part of the Chamber. It’s by working together that we move the community forward.

Is your company/organization involved in any community/civic activities?

We are a 501(c)3 organization.

Where do you see your organization in five years?

We will have had five more successful festivals, bringing in great films and fun guests, and will continue our rise in the top level of American film festivals.

What are three things your organization can’t live without?

  1. An internet connection for our Twitter feed.
  2. The best film festival audience in the world.
  3. Tootsie Pops!
